KARACHI (Dunya News) - The tragedy at PIMS Hospital has once again shocked the nation, raising serious questions about hospital safety standards and emergency preparedness.

The hospital, which operates on a hefty annual budget, has come under scrutiny following the deaths of 15 newborn babies in a fire reportedly triggered by an air-conditioning compressor malfunction.

Questions have also been raised over the apparent lack of basic fire-safety equipment, including fire cylinders and hydrants, in the affected area.

The tragedy has left grieving families facing an unimaginable loss.

Mothers who had undergone C-sections were reportedly forced to sit on hospital floors as they waited to identify and recover the bodies of their newborns.

The horrific scenes have sparked widespread grief and anger across the country.

The tragedy has also deeply affected several prominent women in Pakistan’s entertainment and media industries.

As mothers themselves, Sadia Imam, Javeria Saud and Sawera Pasha spoke publicly about the pain of families who lost their newborn children.

Sadia Imam questioned whether the families would ever receive justice and called attention to the need for accountability.

Television personality Sawera Pasha struggled to hold back her emotions while speaking about the tragedy, eventually breaking down in front of the camera.

Javeria Saud also expressed her disappointment with a system in which alleged negligence resulted in the deaths of 14 newborns, saying the tragedy had severely shaken her faith in the institutions responsible for protecting patients.

The statements from celebrity mothers reflect the broader grief and outrage felt across Pakistan, as families and citizens demand answers over how such a devastating loss of newborn lives could occur in a major public hospital.
