ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has come under criticism on social media after sharing a dance video, with some users questioning the timing of the post amid recent tragedies in the country.
The actress recently shared a video on Instagram in which she was seen wearing a Pakistan cricket team shirt, drinking coffee in an open-top vehicle and dancing to music.
The video quickly attracted attention, but alongside reactions from fans, a section of social media users criticised the actress for posting light-hearted content at a time when families affected by recent tragic incidents were grieving.
Several users specifically referred to the deadly fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, where 14 newborn babies were reported killed after a blaze broke out in the Mother and Child Hospital.
Critics argued that Hania, as one of Pakistan's most-followed entertainment personalities, could use her large social media platform to highlight major humanitarian and social issues.
However, the criticism represents the views of social media users and does not establish that the actress was under any obligation to comment on particular events. Public figures frequently face competing expectations over what they post or choose to address online.
Some social media users also referred to the case of four-year-old Ayat Noor in Haripur and called on Hania to speak about the child.
Reports concerning the case have triggered public concern, with allegations surrounding the child's sexual assault and killing. Any allegations and questions of criminal responsibility remain subject to the findings of investigators and judicial proceedings.
Users commenting on Hania's video questioned why celebrities with millions of followers were not using their reach to draw greater attention to such cases.
