LAHORE/GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) - Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the immediate removal of all staff members at the Regional Passport Office Gujranwala after finding the facility closed before official working hours during a surprise inspection.
Naqvi made the decision after visiting the passport office and expressing serious displeasure over what he described as negligence and poor service delivery.
According to officials, the minister found that the office had been closed before the scheduled time and that citizens had been barred from entering the premises.
Cleaning activities had also started around 4pm, while the office appeared to have effectively shut down for the day.
Taking strict notice of the situation, Naqvi ordered the immediate removal of the entire staff posted at the Regional Passport Office Gujranwala.

He directed the authorities to take action against officials responsible for failing to ensure that the office remained operational during prescribed working hours.
The interior minister stressed that government offices dealing directly with the public must provide services to citizens without unnecessary delays or inconvenience.
Earlier, Naqvi visited the 24-hour Mega NADRA Centre in Gujranwala, where he announced that passport office services would be made available at the facility.
He also took immediate notice of complaints raised by citizens and ordered their prompt resolution.
The minister’s inspection was part of a wider review of immigration and passport-related services.
During his visit to the FIA Zonal Office Lahore, he also ordered strict action against human trafficking and hawala-hundi networks and directed officials to complete the agency’s upgradation project at the earliest.
He further approved the replacement of outdated cameras at immigration counters at airports across the country and agreed in principle to use the Pak ID app for registering public complaints.
