Judicial commission begins probe into Mir Raza murder case

Updated on:

Judicial commission begins investigating Mir Raza’s murder, summoning his family and lawyer Jibran Nasir amid objections over its formation and ToRs.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The judicial commission constituted to investigate the murder of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza has formally begun its proceedings and issued notices to the relevant parties.

The commission has summoned Mir Raza’s family members and their lawyer, Jibran Nasir, for August 28. A notice has also been issued to the Sindh government’s focal person.

The development comes despite opposition from Jibran Nasir, who had rejected the Sindh government’s decision to form a judicial commission without consulting the victim’s family.

Speaking to the media, Nasir said Mir Raza’s family would approach the high court seeking the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) and would oppose the judicial commission.

He alleged that the commission was formed without informing the family and that its terms of reference (ToRs) had not been made public.
