KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed in negative territory on Monday as selling pressure pushed the benchmark KSE-100 Index lower during the first trading session of the week.
The KSE-100 Index declined by 199 points and settled at 176,966 points at the closing bell.
The market witnessed fluctuations during the session, with the benchmark climbing to an intraday high of 178,122 points before losing momentum. It touched a session low of 176,735 points as investors remained cautious.
Trading activity, however, remained substantial despite the decline in the benchmark index.
Around 920 million shares changed hands at the stock exchange during the session, with the traded value amounting to approximately Rs43 billion.
The market’s retreat came after the index struggled to sustain gains at higher levels, with profit-taking and selling pressure dragging the benchmark into the red before the close.
Investors are expected to closely track domestic economic indicators, corporate developments and broader market sentiment for direction during the remaining sessions of the week.
Market outlook
The KSE-100’s ability to hold above key levels will remain important for near-term market sentiment. Investors are also likely to assess economic developments and institutional activity before taking fresh positions.
