KARACHI (Dunya News) – Three policemen were injured when a protest against long power shutdown and ultimately suspension of water supply turned violent in Manghopir, near New Nazimabad here on Sunday.
The protesters blocked roads and disrupted traffic to record their protest against frequent power outages and scarcity of water, which made their life a hell.
Police were deployed near the demonstration to check any untoward incident. But angry mob turned violent and caught hold of three policemen and gave them a good thrashing. As a result, they sustained injuries. They were identified as Head Constable Saad Gul, Constable Shehbaz and Arsalan.
The protesters burnt tyres and chanted slogans against long and unannounced power shutdowns and unavailability of water. They said they were suffering from mental and physical ordeal and pain due to power shutdown and demanded relevant authority address their complaints.
