Police make key progress in Mir Raza death case

Police investigating Mir Raza’s death have obtained his registered SIM to access WhatsApp backup data, while investigators have also traced his final 12 hours and financial activities.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police investigating the death of young Karachi trader Mir Raza have made important progress, with investigators obtaining a mobile phone SIM registered in the deceased’s name, sources said.

According to investigative officials, the SIM was transferred and issued in the name of Mir Raza’s mother after completion of biometric verification and all necessary documentation. The move is aimed at accessing Mir Raza’s WhatsApp account and retrieving chat backup data to help advance the investigation.

Police have also obtained some WhatsApp messages sent by Mir Raza to his close friends, in which he had mentioned his severe financial and domestic circumstances.

In addition, police have recorded the statements of a security guard at a residential building located near the incident site, as well as the imam, muezzin and members of the committee of a nearby mosque.

The investigation committee has also prepared a detailed timeline covering Mir Raza’s activities during the last 12 hours before his death. The timeline indicates that he remained engaged in efforts to secure investment and obtain a loan until the final hours.

According to police, Mir Raza met a man on Shahrah-e-Faisal at around 5:45 p.m. on July 27 and discussed an investment of Rs7 million to Rs8 million. However, at around 8:15 p.m., the man called Mir Raza and declined to proceed with the investment.

Meanwhile, at around 7 p.m., a bank informed Mir Raza that a Rs10 million loan had been approved in his sister’s name. Later, after further meetings on Tipu Sultan Road and having dinner with a friend at a kebab house late at night, Mir Raza continued contacting different people.
