Pakistan, DR Congo sign MoU to strengthen defence and security cooperation

Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo sign an MoU to strengthen defence and security cooperation during talks in Rawalpindi.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A high-level defence delegation from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), led by Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules, Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, held talks with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi today.

Upon his arrival at GHQ, Lieutenant General Banza was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation.

Both dignitaries expressed satisfaction over the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The meeting also culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at broadening and strengthening defence and security cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Banza also held separate meetings with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff.

The visiting dignitary praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, as well as their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

He also acknowledged the significant progress made by Pakistan in defence indigenisation and self-reliance.
