Houthis claim drone attacks on Najran airport, Aramco facility in Saudi Arabia

Updated on:

The claims came shortly after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned Saudi Arabia that it would not succeed in controlling the Houthis in Yemen

SANAA (Dunya News) - Yemen’s Houthis claimed responsibility for drone attacks targeting an airport and a facility belonging to Saudi state oil giant Aramco in the southern Saudi region of Najran.

Houthis military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the Najran airport and the Aramco facility were targeted separately with drones in what he described as highly precise attacks.

According to Saree, the first operation targeted a sensitive Saudi site at Najran airport, while the second attack was directed at an Aramco facility in the region.

The Houthi spokesperson claimed both operations successfully struck their intended targets but provided no details on possible deaths, injuries or material damage.

Reuters reported that Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed or denied the Houthi claims, making it unclear whether the attacks caused any casualties or damage.

The claims came shortly after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned Saudi Arabia that it would not succeed in controlling the Houthis in Yemen.

IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi told Iranian media that Saudi Arabia could neither control Yemen and Ansar Allah, another name for the Houthis, nor remain safe from their attacks.

The Houthis also claimed a drone attack last week on an Aramco facility in Jazan, another region in southern Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has previously faced repeated attacks claimed by the Houthis amid the broader regional conflict and the long-running war in Yemen.
