PTI demands immediate hospitalisation of Imran Khan over health concerns

Updated on:

PTI demanded Imran Khan’s immediate hospitalisation, personal doctors’ supervision and transparent medical reporting, citing concerns over his deteriorating health.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said a report from Adiala Jail had confirmed concerns over the deteriorating health of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Sheikh Waqas Akram demanded that Imran Khan be shifted to hospital immediately and provided treatment by his personal doctors. He said the report mentioned an elevated heart rate, severe headache, restlessness and anxiety.

He questioned why the government had failed to ensure medical investigations and treatment, alleging a clear contradiction between the claims of the jail administration and the recommendations of the medical board.

“If medical facilities are being provided, why did the medical board make such recommendations?” he questioned.

Sheikh Waqas Akram said prolonged isolation and restrictions on meetings with family could have serious effects on Imran Khan’s health, adding that the government could not evade responsibility.

He said Imran Khan was not an ordinary prisoner but a former prime minister and a popular political leader, demanding that he be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination.

The PTI information secretary demanded that all tests, including coronary CT angiography, be conducted under the supervision of Imran Khan’s preferred doctors, Dr Asim Yousaf and Dr Faisal Sultan.

He also called for medical reports and details of treatment to be transparently shared with Imran Khan’s family and legal team, warning that negligence regarding his health could have serious legal, ethical and political consequences.
