ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a session of the Senate for tomorrow, August 17, at 4pm at Parliament House in Islamabad under Article 54(1) of the Constitution.
The session will be chaired by Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, with lawmakers expected to hold detailed discussions on the country’s domestic and international situation, legislation and key national issues.
Several legislative bills are expected to be introduced during the session, while the House will also review the country’s political, economic and security situation.
The upper house is also expected to discuss important global and regional developments. Government and opposition members will debate key national matters and consider the way forward on various issues.
Under Article 54(1) of the Constitution, the president is empowered to summon either house of Parliament or both houses in a joint sitting from time to time.
The Senate session comes as Pakistan faces several domestic and international challenges, alongside important legislative priorities.
The session will be presided over by former prime minister and incumbent Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
