Voting is underway on Sunday in the Sindh Assembly constituency PS-30 Khairpur as voters are set to elect a new representative after the death of PPP lawmaker Naeem Ahmed Kharl.
A total of 254,980 registered voters, including males and females, are eligible to cast their ballots in the constituency.
The Election Commission has established 164 polling stations across the Gambat and Sobhodero tehsils of Khairpur district.
Of these, 64 have been declared highly sensitive and 68 sensitive, while the remaining polling stations have been classified as normal.
Polling began at 8am and will continue until 5pm without a break.
PPP candidate Barrister Asfandyar Khan Kharl is contesting the by-election against seven independent candidates, according to officials.
Around 2,500 police personnel have been deployed to provide security at polling stations and maintain law and order during the election.
