KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police claimed to have arrested 31 suspects in connection with aerial firing, which left one dead and 93 injured during Independence Day celebrations.
According to the police, the weapons used in the aerial firing have also been recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects. The suspects were arrested from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Sachal, Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Site Super Highway, Korangi, Gulbahar, Rizvia and other areas.
It should be noted that one woman was killed and about 100 people were injured as a result of aerial firing in various areas during Independence Day celebrations in Karachi.
Police said actions against elements involved in aerial firing will be further intensified.
The moment clock struck 12am, marking the start of August 14, the day on which Pakistan came into being in 1947, the people of Karachi hit roads and rooftops to celebrate the day, unfortunately resorting to firing in the air, leaving a woman dead and several injured.
A woman was killed and 93 people were injured in aerial firing incidents in different areas of the city during Independence Day celebrations here on Thursday.
According to the police report, a woman was seriously injured by a bullet coming from an unknown direction in the Sarafa Bazaar area of Paposh Nagar. She was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition, but the woman died.
