ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain in upper and central parts of the country from August 13 to 15, with showers expected across most areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tonight through August 15.
According to the Met Department, rain is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi during the forecast period.
Several districts of Punjab, including Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara and Nankana Sahib, are likely to receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thunderstorms and rain are expected in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Peshawar, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan, among other areas.
The Met Department said parts of southeastern and southern Punjab are also likely to experience partly cloudy weather and scattered thunderstorms on August 12 and 13, with heavy rain possible at some locations.
Heavy rainfall may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The department also warned of a risk of landslides in mountainous areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Strong winds and thunderstorms may damage vulnerable trees, electricity poles and other infrastructure.
