ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): The government has increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs1.39 per litre after raising the Petroleum Development Levy by Rs2 per litre.
The increase has taken the petroleum levy on diesel to Rs76.28 per litre.
Meanwhile, the ex-refinery price of diesel decreased by 61 paisas per litre. However, the increase in the levy resulted in an overall increase of Rs1.39 per litre in the price of diesel.
According to sources, diesel prices would have decreased if the levy had not been increased.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to keep the levy on petrol unchanged, resulting in a reduction of Rs1.70 per litre in the price of petrol.
The new prices of petroleum products will remain in effect for the stipulated period.
