Punjab decides to hold Basant in February next year

Punjab plans to hold Basant in Lahore next year during late February, with kite-flying regulations and safety measures being finalised.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Punjab government has decided to celebrate Basant next year, with the traditional kite-flying festival to be held in February instead of January.

According, the Punjab Home Department and district administration have finalised a preliminary plan for holding Basant in Lahore next year.

Sources said the festival has been shifted to February, while the final date will be announced after approval from the provincial government.

Preparations will take into account the experience and arrangements of the previous year. Permission for kite, string and other related manufacturing activities is also expected to be granted soon, while rules and regulations governing kite flying will be finalised before the festival.
