Pakistan's Umair Arif wins Hong Kong Junior Squash Open U17 title

Pakistan’s Umeer Arif defeated England’s Luke McBride 3-2 to win the Hong Kong Junior Squash Open Under-17 title in a five-game final.

HONG KONG (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s promising squash player Umair Arif has won the Under-17 title at the Hong Kong Junior Squash Open after defeating England’s Luke McBride in a five-game final.

Umair overcame McBride 3-2 in a closely contested final, winning the match 4-11, 11-6, 11-5, 9-11, 11-4.

The Pakistani youngster recovered strongly after losing the opening game before taking the second and third games. McBride levelled the contest by winning the fourth, but Umeer held his nerve in the decider to seal the championship.

Umair has previously represented Pakistan at the World Junior Squash Championship and Asian Junior Squash Championship.

He is also a fellow of the Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood Foundation.

The title adds to Pakistan’s growing presence in international junior squash and highlights the country’s emerging young talent in the sport.
