(Web Desk) - Pakistan’s Muhammad Zubair has won the Tekken 8 championship at the Esports World Cup in Paris, defeating South Korea’s LowHigh in a dominant grand-final performance.
Zubair swept LowHigh 5-0 in the final on Saturday to claim the world title and a $250,000 cash prize.
His victory came after a dramatic run through the tournament, which was held from August 5 to 8. Zubair had narrowly survived the early stages before producing a series of strong performances in the knockout rounds.
In the second group stage on Friday, Zubair defeated fellow Pakistani and internationally recognised Tekken player Arslan “Ash” Siddique. He then faced Ash again in the semifinals on Saturday, edging him out 5-4 in a closely fought encounter.
Zubair's victory over Ash secured his place in the grand final, where he produced a commanding display against LowHigh and completed the tournament without dropping a game in the final.
Ash finished fourth after losing the third-place decider to Australia’s Yagami.
The victory adds another major achievement to Pakistan’s growing reputation in international esports. Ash had won the 2026 Evo championship in Las Vegas in June, securing his fourth consecutive title at the prestigious fighting game tournament.
The Esports World Cup features competitions across several major gaming titles, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Street Fighter and Valorant.
