WhatsApp introduces parental controls for iPhone users

Updated on:

Parents will be able to access information about certain account activities, including new contacts and blocked users

(Dunya News) - WhatsApp has started rolling out a dedicated parental controls section for iPhone users, making it easier for parents and guardians to manage and monitor children’s accounts.

The new feature allows parents to decide who can contact their children and which groups they can join. Access to certain features, including channels and status updates, can also be restricted through parent-managed accounts.

Parents will additionally be able to access information about certain account activities, including new contacts, blocked users and changes made to the child’s profile.

The dedicated parental controls section was previously available on Android devices and is now being introduced on iOS.

According to WhatsApp, the feature is intended for users who are below the minimum age required to use the app in their country or region.

In some cases, Apple may also share information about a child’s age range directly with WhatsApp, allowing the platform to apply age-appropriate protections.

The move is aimed at giving parents greater control over how children use the messaging platform while providing additional safeguards for younger users.
