(Dunya News) - Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah has rejected reports that he is considering quitting international cricket, calling the rumours ‘fake’ and ‘completely untrue’.
The 31-year-old, who made his Pakistan debut in November 2019, has represented the national side in 15 ODIs and 38 T20Is. His most recent appearance came during last year’s ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup.
Khushdil played only one match in the tournament, against the United Arab Emirates, scoring four runs before losing his place in the playing XI for the remainder of the competition.
Rumours about his possible retirement gained traction on social media after a two-month-old interview resurfaced. In the interview, fellow Pakistan all-rounder Abbas Afridi claimed that Khushdil had told him he had around four months left to secure a national team call-up or would have to leave Pakistan cricket.
Responding to the reports, Khushdil took to Instagram and categorically denied the claim.
“There’s fake news going around claiming I’m leaving Pakistan cricket and it’s completely untrue,” he said.
Khushdil added that representing Pakistan remained his “top priority and greatest honour” and urged fans not to believe the rumours.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the national team, saying his dedication to Pakistan cricket “has never changed and never will.”
