Heavy monsoon rain lashes Lahore as rainfall crosses 100mm

Heavy monsoon rain continued in Lahore, with 104mm recorded on Jail Road and 102mm near the airport, while water accumulated in several areas and drainage operations continued.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Heavy monsoon rain continued across Lahore, with rainfall crossing the 100-millimetre mark at several locations in the provincial capital, according to data released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The highest rainfall was recorded in the Jail Road area, where 104 millimetres of rain was reported, while 102mm was recorded in the Lahore Airport area.

According to the data, Mughalpura received 32.8mm of rain, Tajpura 39.8mm, Nishtar Town 27.6mm, Chowk Na Khuda 10.4mm, Gulberg 10.8mm, Lakshmi Chowk 3mm and Ahtimam 9mm.

Farukhabad recorded 0.8mm, Gulshan Ravi 1.6mm, Iqbal Town 3.6mm and Samanabad 4mm of rainfall.

Johar Town received 10mm, Hadiara Defence Road 57.6mm, Shadipura 28mm, Sagian 3.6mm, Kahna 75.6mm and Manawan 57mm of rain.

The report said that since the rainfall began at 8:40am, Lahore had received an average of 24.1mm of rain so far.

The heavy downpour has also caused water accumulation in several parts of the city, while the relevant authorities are engaged in drainage operations.
