MAKKAH (Dunya News) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the Makkah Defence Pact signed between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkiye is not directed against any country but represents a significant step toward strengthening regional peace, stability, and defence cooperation.
In a statement, Erdogan said he visited Makkah at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, where he also held talks with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Turkish president said the three leaders signed a joint defence agreement aimed at enhancing collective defence capabilities, expanding cooperation in the defence industry, and strengthening joint efforts to combat terrorism.

According to Erdogan, the agreement also reaffirms the inherent right to self-defence as recognized under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
He stressed that the pact is not intended against any country, adding that it is open to all friendly nations committed to promoting peace, prosperity, and stability across the region.
Erdogan further said that Turkiye would continue to uphold its principled policy of resolving conflicts and regional crises through dialogue and diplomacy.
He concluded by expressing hope that the agreement would bring peace, stability, prosperity, and blessings to the entire region.
