LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall in Punjab and Islamabad on Thursday, while warning of continued weather activity as flood-hit areas in the country's north grapple with widespread damage caused by heavy rains.
According to the Met Office, light rain or drizzle is also expected along Sindh's coastal belt, including Karachi, while Punjab and Islamabad are likely to receive further rainfall during the day.
Meanwhile, flash floods have caused extensive damage in Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan, where several areas, including Niat Valley, Loshi, Babusar and Gas Bala, have been severely affected by torrential rains.
Flooding has also forced the closure of the Karakoram Highway for traffic at the Gini area.
In Chitral, restoration work is continuing in the flood-affected union councils of Broz, Garam Chashma, Shasha and Gumbas Gol. Authorities have, however, reopened the Mastuj-Gilgit Road for light traffic.
