LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore Police have introduced new standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of women following a recent alleged assault case at a police station and incidents involving the deaths of women.
The new directives have been issued by the DIG Operations Lahore to all SPs and SHOs across the city.
Under the revised SOPs, no woman will be allowed to remain at a police station after sunset. Police officials have been instructed to ensure that all women leave police stations before sunset, while female complainants and accused women will also not be summoned to police stations after dark.
According to the new guidelines, all legal proceedings involving women will be conducted during daylight hours. In emergency situations where it becomes unavoidable to keep a woman at a police station, prior approval from a senior officer will be mandatory.
The order further directs police officials to hear complaints lodged by women without delay and resolve their issues on a priority basis to ensure timely justice and protection.
Police authorities said the SOPs are intended to safeguard the dignity, safety and rights of women, while introducing stricter procedures for handling cases involving women at police stations in the wake of recent incidents.
