WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – US President Donald Trump has rejected reports claiming the United States is running low on munitions, saying the country has massive amounts of munitions, particularly certain types.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said large quantities of munitions are being manufactured and shipped to the United States as needed. He added that defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in the country's history.
Trump accused those responsible for leaking information about US munitions stockpiles of making treasonous statements. He said authorities were hunting down the leakers and that long prison sentences would be sought against those responsible.
Earlier, Trump said the United States had been preparing what he described as "the biggest attack since World War II" before Iranian officials contacted Washington seeking negotiations.
Trump said he would rather reach a diplomatic agreement than pursue further military action because he did not want people to be killed. However, he stressed that the US position remained unchanged and that Iran would not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
The remarks came as negotiations between the Trump administration and Iran continue over the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.
Trump also said a day earlier that the talks had made "substantial progress" and expressed hope that an agreement could soon be finalized.
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Ministry announced that Iran and Oman had agreed on a common shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz and were finalizing arrangements for the joint management of the strategic waterway.
