LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Rabiul Awwal 1448 AH is unlikely to be sighted on the evening of August 13.
According to the PMD, astronomical calculations indicated that the age of the moon and other celestial parameters will not support moon sighting on August 13. In Karachi, moonset is expected at 7:40pm, but visibility is considered unlikely.
The department also said weather conditions across most parts of the country are expected to remain partly cloudy on the evening of August 13.
The Islamic month of Rabiul Awwal is expected to start from August 15.
Based on the forecast, the PMD expects 12 Rabiul Awwal to fall on Wednesday, August 26.
The department noted that the official announcement regarding the beginning of Rabiul Awwal and the moon sighting will be made by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
