(Web Desk) – Egypt's Salman Khalil defeated Pakistan's Nasir Iqbal to win the Pakistan Navy Fleet Club Open International Squash Championship.
The final, organised by the Sindh Squash Association at the Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex, saw third seed Salman Khalil beat Nasir Iqbal in straight games.
The Egyptian player won 14-12, 11-3 and 13-11 to seal the title. (The Urdu score order has been converted to the conventional winner-first format.)
Commander Karachi Faisal Amin attended the final as the chief guest. Squash legend Jahangir Khan and former governor Moinuddin Haider were also present.
Vice Admiral Faisal Amin welcomed the successful staging of the tournament and said the Pakistan Navy would continue supporting sports.
Sindh Squash Association President Adnan Asad shared details of upcoming squash events, saying several tournaments with substantial prize money would be held in the near future. He urged players to work hard and strive for success.
Jahangir Khan said he hopes Pakistani players will qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics and win a gold medal. He added that aspiring to reach the heights of Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan requires complete dedication and hard work.
