Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem and India’s Neeraj Chopra are among leading javelin throwers entered for the Lausanne Diamond League meeting in Switzerland on August 21.

LAUSANNE (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem is set to return to action at the Lausanne Diamond League, where he will compete in the men’s javelin throw alongside India’s Neeraj Chopra.

The Lausanne meeting is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on August 21, with both South Asian stars included among the leading athletes expected to feature in the competition.

Nadeem’s inclusion in the entry list has generated significant interest among Pakistani sports fans, while Chopra’s participation adds further significance to an event featuring several of the world’s leading javelin throwers.

The competition is expected to provide another high-level test for Nadeem as he continues his international season. Chopra will also be looking to make his mark against a strong field in Lausanne.

Strong javelin field

The Lausanne event is expected to feature several prominent names from the international javelin scene, including Sri Lanka’s rising star Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage and Grenada’s Anderson Peters.

Nadeem and Chopra have developed one of the most closely followed rivalries in international athletics, particularly after the pair shared the podium at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

At the Paris Olympics, Nadeem won the gold medal with a throw of 92.97 metres, while Chopra claimed silver with 89.45 metres.

Their expected appearance in Lausanne will therefore attract attention well beyond athletics, particularly across Pakistan and India.
