LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government has fixed the release price of wheat at Rs3,800 per 40 kilograms, following approval by the provincial cabinet.
The Department of Food Safety and Consumer Protection issued a notification announcing the new release price, which has come into effect immediately.
According to the notification, wheat procured from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) and currently held by aggregators will be released at Rs3,800 per 40kg.
The decision has been taken under the Punjab Foodstuffs (Control) Act, 1958, with divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and other relevant departments directed to ensure implementation of the new price.
Notification sent to flour industry
The Department of Food Safety and Consumer Protection said copies of the notification had been forwarded to relevant stakeholders, including the Pakistan Flour Mills Association, for compliance.
The notification was issued by Food Safety and Consumer Protection Secretary Dr Kiran Khurshid following approval of the release price by the Punjab cabinet.
The government is expected to monitor the implementation of the new rate through the district administration and relevant food authorities.
