KASUR (Dunya News) – Two children lost their lives after drowning in accumulated rainwater in the Raja Jang area of Kasur, sparking criticism from residents over inadequate drainage arrangements.
According to police, Zulfiqar, a resident of Raja Jang, informed the Rescue 15 helpline that his 10-year-old nephew Saad Ali, son of Saeed Ahmed, and 11-year-old Ehsan, son of Yaqoob Arain, had drowned in stagnant rainwater.
An ASI, accompanied by a police team, reached the scene and conducted an initial investigation, which confirmed that both children had died after drowning in rainwater collected following recent rainfall.
After completing the necessary legal formalities, police handed over the bodies to the victims' families. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
Residents of the area said the tragedy occurred because rainwater was not drained from streets and roads in time.
They accused the local administration of negligence and called for immediate and effective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
