ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court has issued a significant ruling, declaring that it does not have jurisdiction to hear cases under the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law following recent legislative amendments.
Announcing a short order, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar ruled that principal appeals and bail petitions in NAB cases will now be heard by the Federal Constitutional Court. The court held that under Sections 32 and 32A of the NAB law, the Supreme Court no longer has the authority to hear such matters.
The ruling further stated that, under Articles 175A and 175F, all NAB-related cases falling within the amended legal framework shall be deemed transferred to the Federal Constitutional Court.
The decision comes after PTI founder Imran Khan had approached the Supreme Court against a High Court ruling in his bail case. However, the Supreme Court Registrar had returned the petition after raising objections.
Following the Supreme Court's ruling, Imran Khan's bail case will now be heard by the Federal Constitutional Court.
