ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan and Iran on Monday agreed to enhance cooperation in counterterrorism, border security, counternarcotics and tackling illegal immigration during talks between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, in Islamabad.
Momeni visited Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, where he was received by Mohsin Naqvi and presented with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Federal Constabulary. Senior officials from both countries were also introduced during the welcoming ceremony.
The two ministers first held a one-on-one meeting before leading delegation-level talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade and discussing the regional security situation.

— Ministry of Interior GoP (@MOIofficialGoP) July 22, 2026During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in counterterrorism and counternarcotics. They also agreed to strengthen collaboration to combat illegal immigration and human trafficking.
The two countries further stressed the need for a coordinated approach to preventing terrorism and drug smuggling along the border with Afghanistan and agreed to improve bilateral coordination to make cooperation more effective.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan is ready to expand cooperation with Iran across all sectors. He also praised Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni for their efforts to promote regional peace and expressed hope that further positive developments would emerge soon.
The Iranian delegation included the Governor General of Sistan and Baluchestan, the deputy interior minister, the deputy minister for urban development and transport, the head of the National Iranian Oil Company, the special representative of Iran's agriculture minister and other senior officials.
The Pakistani side included Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the interior secretary, the NADRA chairman, the directors general of the FIA, Anti-Narcotics Force, Federal Constabulary, NCCIA, Immigration and Passports, the CDA chairman, the Islamabad police chief and additional secretaries of the Ministry of Interior.
