MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced that the Legislative Assembly elections will be held in three phases.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd.) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said polling in the Mirpur Division will take place on July 27, while voters in the Muzaffarabad Division and Jammu and Kashmir refugees' constituencies will cast their ballots on August 2.
He added that elections in the Poonch Division will be held on August 10.
According to the Election Commission, the Mirpur Division has 13 seats, while the Muzaffarabad Division and refugees' constituencies together account for 21 seats. The Poonch Division has 11 seats.
Meanwhile, polling for government employees in the Neelum Valley constituencies for the 2026 AJK elections has been completed. A total of 855 employees cast their votes in LA-25, while 797 employees voted in LA-26 Lower Neelum. Polling continued uninterrupted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Election Commission said the polling process in Neelum Valley remained peaceful, transparent, and orderly under comprehensive security arrangements. After voting concluded, the ballot boxes were sealed and submitted to the respective Returning Officers' offices.
