PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Twelve people were killed and 15 injured in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) during the last 24 hours, Dunya News reported here on Monday.
According to reports, 12 people died and 15 sustained injuries across the province due to incidents of roof and wall collapse in heavy rains and flash floods during the last 24 hours. According to PDMA, the dead included six men, five children and a woman, while the injured included eight men, two women and five children.
Fourteen houses were damaged due to heavy rains and flash floods, of which 13 houses were partially destroyed and 1 house was completely destroyed.
The PDMA said that these incidents occurred in different districts of the province, including Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Chitral Lower, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar and Kurram. The PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administration and relevant agencies are in contact with each other and relief activities are continuing.
DG PDMA directed the administrations of the affected districts to provide relief supplies to the victims as soon as possible. The district administration was also directed to accelerate relief activities and provide immediate assistance to the victims.
The PDMA further stated that the water level and flow in all rivers and streams of the province are normal, and this series of heavy rains is likely to continue intermittently until July 23.
According to the PDMA, a letter has already been issued to all district administrations to remain alert, appealing to the public to avoid unnecessary travel and not to visit sensitive tourist destinations, and to follow alerts and advisories from government agencies.
