LAHORE (Dunya News) – Eight Pakistani women mountaineers have successfully climbed Khusar Gang Peak, reaching the 6,040-metre summit in a landmark achievement for women's mountaineering in Pakistan.
The expedition was organised by the Alpine Club of Pakistan as part of its second Women's Khusar Gang Expedition. Participants from Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad completed the climb, setting a new milestone for female mountaineers in the country.
The expedition was led by Bibi Afzoon, while experienced high-altitude guides Ali Muhammad Sadpara, Sadiq Hussain Sadpara and Ilyas Hushe provided technical support throughout the ascent. Rope-fixing duties on the mountain were carried out by Qaid Shigri.
Congratulating the successful climbers, Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary General Ayaz Shigri said the achievement demonstrated the determination, resilience and professional capabilities of Pakistani women in adventure sports.
He described the successful summit as an important step forward for the promotion of women's mountaineering in Pakistan and said the Alpine Club would continue creating opportunities for female climbers to participate in national and international expeditions.
The successful ascent of Khusar Gang adds to Pakistan's growing reputation as a destination for mountaineering and highlights the increasing participation of women in high-altitude climbing and outdoor sports.
Officials expressed hope that the achievement would encourage more young women across the country to pursue mountaineering and other adventure activities while representing Pakistan on the international stage.
