LAHORE (Dunya Newa) – A new monsoon weather system has entered Pakistan, with light to heavy rainfall expected in Lahore and most districts of Punjab as authorities step up preparedness for the incoming spell.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, sunshine and clouds are expected to alternate throughout the day in Lahore, while light rain is likely after noon. The city's minimum temperature was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius.
In view of the forecast rainfall, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to all district administrations, directing them to complete precautionary measures in low-lying and vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed has instructed all operational staff to remain on high alert due to the possibility of rain in the city.
He said officers and field teams will continue performing their duties until rainwater is completely drained from roads and low-lying areas.
Authorities have also advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall and to stay updated on the latest weather conditions.
