LAHORE (Dunya News) - The second spell of monsoon rains is expected to begin across Punjab by tomorrow (Sunday), with authorities warning of heavy downpours, urban flooding, and rising water levels in rivers and seasonal streams.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the weather system will remain active from July 19 to July 24 and is likely to bring intense rainfall over short periods, increasing the risk of flash flooding in low-lying and urban areas.
Heavy rain is forecast for Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, and Chiniot.
Rain is also expected in Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur.
The PDMA has warned of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Multan, and Faisalabad, while water levels may rise in local streams, Nullah Lai, and seasonal waterways in Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and northeastern Punjab.
Residents have been advised to stay updated on weather forecasts, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
