Sit-in ends as Balochistan govt, Ziarat committee reach agreement

Negotiations between the Government of Balochistan and the Ziarat sit-in committee concluded successfully, with both sides signing a written agreement.

QUETTA (Dunya News) - Negotiations between the Government of Balochistan and the Ziarat sit-in committee concluded successfully, with both sides signing a written agreement.

The parties agreed to implement the demands of the families of the Ziarat martyrs and to take joint measures to promote peace and stability in the province. They also agreed to establish a judicial commission to investigate the Ziarat incident.

A joint meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister of Balochistan, will be held with opposition parties and the families of the martyrs to discuss the province's law and order situation. It was also agreed to further strengthen the police force in urban areas of Balochistan by improving its capacity, manpower, and professional capabilities.

The victims of the Ziarat incident will be officially recognized as martyrs under the existing government policy. Their families will receive financial support, educational assistance for their children, and compensation in accordance with the government's compensation policy. In recognition of their sacrifices, various government buildings will be named after the martyrs.

To address public concerns related to revenue matters, a committee headed by the Provincial Revenue Minister will be established. The committee will include government officials as well as respected local community representatives.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the martyrs are deeply valued and that caring for their families is the responsibility of the provincial government. He also paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by personnel of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), Police, and other law enforcement agencies.

The government negotiating committee was led by Health Minister Bakht Kakar and included Provincial Ministers Zia Langove, Saleem Khan Khosa, Mir Asim Kurd Gello, Senator Manzoor Kakar, Bilal Kakar, and Quetta Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar.
