Ground and air operations continue across key militant strongholds

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Security forces have continued their joint counterterrorism campaign in Balochistan, with another four militants killed during the latest phase of Operation Shaaban.

The operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan and police, is targeting militants through coordinated ground and air operations across the province. Security officials said the latest action has raised the number of militants killed during Operation Shaaban to 71.

According to security sources, the latest operation was carried out in the Saran Tangi area, where four militants were killed during an intelligence-led action. The operation forms part of the wider Operation Shaaban, which has been underway against militant elements in Balochistan.

Officials said the latest development brings the total number of militants killed during Operation Shaaban to 71.

Security sources further stated that since 5 July, a combined total of 109 militants have been killed in Operation Shaaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted across Balochistan.

The operations involve coordinated efforts by the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan and law enforcement agencies, with both ground troops and air support being used to target militant hideouts and movement.

According to security officials, forces recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the militants killed during the operations. The seized items included M4 rifles, submachine guns (SMGs), rocket launchers, mobile phones and other equipment believed to have been used by the militant network. Security sources said the recovered weapons and material would be examined as part of the ongoing investigation into militant activities in the province.

Officials also reiterated that Operation Shaaban will continue without interruption until all militant threats in Balochistan have been eliminated, with security forces maintaining pressure through continued intelligence-based and coordinated operations across the province.
