Qalibaf says era of one-sided deals is over as Iran reaffirms Hormuz closure

Iran warned the US of consequences over any new attack, saying the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until US interference ends and threatening a strong response to violations

TEHRAN (Dunya News) – Iran's Parliamentary Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has warned the United States that the era of one-sided agreements is over, declaring that any future attack on Iran will be met with a strong response as Tehran reaffirmed its decision to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed.

In a post on social media, Qalibaf said Iran had already warned Washington to honour its commitments or "pay the price," adding that the consequences of US actions were now "knocking at its door."

He said the United States had yet to learn that intimidation, the use of force and breaking promises would no longer go unanswered. "If you attack, you will receive a response," he said.

Qalibaf also urged the United States to stop what he described as futile actions, warning that Washington would sink deeper into the crisis. He maintained that the Strait of Hormuz could only be reopened under Iranian arrangements and not through US threats.

The Iranian official also shared an image of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on social media. The document stated that, following its signing, Iran would make every effort to allow commercial vessels to transit safely between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman for 60 days without any fees or charges.

Meanwhile, the naval wing of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that the Strait of Hormuz would remain completely closed until further notice.

According to Iran's state broadcaster IRIB, the IRGC Navy said any foreign interference or attempt to impose what it described as illegal shipping routes through the strategic waterway would be met with a firm response.

The IRGC claimed that several vessels ignored warnings to alter their course and failed to move onto approved maritime routes. It further alleged that one vessel switched off its identification and tracking systems, posing a threat to maritime security, and was stopped after warning shots were fired.

The Revolutionary Guards also said no vessel would be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz until US interference in the region comes to an end. It warned that any new attack or violation against Iran would trigger a strong response, including the possibility of targeting what it described as new enemy bases in the region.
