FM Ishaq Dar, Maldives counterpart discuss bilateral ties, regional developments

Deputy PM Ishaq Dar and Maldives Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel discussed bilateral ties, regional issues and strengthening cooperation.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Maldives Foreign Minister Dr Ariuthsham Adam to discuss bilateral relations, regional cooperation and recent international developments.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two leaders reviewed Pakistan-Maldives relations, ongoing cooperation and issues of mutual interest at the regional and global levels.

During the conversation, Ishaq Dar congratulated Dr Ariuthsham Adam on the upcoming celebrations marking the 61st Independence Day of the Maldives.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on recent developments in the region and around the world.

On the occasion, the Maldivian foreign minister appreciated Pakistan's role in helping ease tensions between Iran and the United States.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and the Maldives across various sectors and agreed to maintain close coordination on matters of mutual interest.
