Khyber Pakhtunkhwa launches digital driving licence service

Updated on:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa introduces digital driving licences, allowing motorists to legally store and present licences through the Rabta mobile application.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has introduced its first digital driving licence service, enabling motorists to securely store their licences on their mobile phones.

Chief Traffic Officer Peshawar Dr Zahid Ullah said the facility is available through the Rabta mobile application, where citizens can obtain a legally valid digital driving licence within seconds by entering their national identity card number and driving licence number.

He said motorists will no longer be required to carry a physical driving licence at all times, as the digital version displayed on a mobile phone will be accepted during traffic inspections.

According to officials, the initiative is part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Traffic Police's digital governance policy aimed at providing faster, more convenient and modern public services.

The Peshawar Traffic Police had earlier introduced an online driving licence verification service for citizens travelling abroad to facilitate visa processing, benefiting thousands of applicants.

Dr Zahid Ullah said the use of modern technology would eliminate unnecessary office visits, reduce paperwork and save citizens valuable time. He added that more public services would gradually be shifted to digital platforms to provide transparent and efficient facilities from home.
