ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan has stepped up its campaign against undocumented Afghan nationals after the government deadline for their legal stay expired on July 10.
Following the deadline, the federal government decided to accelerate the deportation process. Authorities have been instructed to immediately arrest any Afghan national found residing in the country without a valid visa.
Officials have also been directed to submit daily reports to the Ministry of Interior detailing enforcement actions. The reports will include the number of undocumented Afghan nationals detained, the action taken against them, and their current legal status.
The intensified enforcement follows a letter issued by the Ministry of Interior on June 28, 2026, to the chief secretaries of all four provinces, as well as the chief secretaries of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, directing them to implement the government's decisions.
The ministry also instructed all deputy commissioners, police authorities and other law enforcement agencies to take the necessary measures to enforce the directives.
