LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court has summoned the Faisalabad Capital City Police Officer (CPO) in person after expressing strong dissatisfaction over the investigation into a case involving the alleged blackmail of a woman through an objectionable video.
Justice Amjad Rafiq heard the bail petition filed by accused Usman alias Kaka. During the hearing, the investigating officer failed to appear before the court, prompting the judge to criticize the handling of the case.
The court observed that despite the sensitive nature of the allegations, neither an effective investigation had been conducted nor forensic evidence had been collected. It questioned why forensic analysis had not been carried out and why basic investigative requirements had been ignored.
Counsel for the accused, Irfan Kallar, argued that his client had no connection with the alleged incident and had been implicated solely because he shared the same name as the actual suspect.
The defence further contended that the allegations of blackmail through an objectionable video were baseless and that the prosecution had failed to produce any concrete evidence linking the petitioner to the offence.
Maintaining that the accused had been falsely implicated in the case, the defence requested the court to grant bail. Taking serious notice of the alleged flaws in the investigation and the investigating officer's absence, the court summoned the Faisalabad CPO in person and adjourned further proceedings until July 21.
