KARACHI (Dunya News) – Overseas Pakistanis sent a record $41.58 billion in workers' remittances during the fiscal year 2025-26, an increase of 8.5% compared with the previous financial year, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The central bank said remittances received in June were $770 million lower than the record inflow of more than $4.25 billion recorded in May. Despite the monthly decline, total remittances for FY2025-26 reached an all-time high.
The average monthly inflow during the fiscal year stood at $3.46 billion.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, with Pakistani expatriates sending $9.75 billion, followed by the United Arab Emirates with $8.80 billion, the United Kingdom with $6.32 billion, the European Union with $5.22 billion, other Gulf countries with $3.93 billion, and the United States with $3.62 billion.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked overseas Pakistanis for their continued support, saying their remittances of $41.6 billion reflected their patriotism and vital contribution to the country's economy. He appreciated their confidence in Pakistan and acknowledged their role in strengthening foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.
