LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Transport Department has launched dedicated buses for women using Lahore's Metro Bus Service as part of efforts to improve passenger safety and convenience.
According to the Transport and Mass Transit Department, five Speedo buses have been temporarily deployed on the Metro Bus route and reserved exclusively for women.
Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said the additional buses had been introduced to help protect women from harassment during peak hours and provide them with a safer travel experience.
He said the Speedo buses had been added to the Metro Bus fleet on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Khan added that the government plans to purchase new Metro buses to permanently replace the temporarily deployed Speedo buses for women passengers.
He said ensuring safe travel for women remains a top priority of the Punjab chief minister and that additional measures will also be introduced to further improve passenger safety.
