LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab government and the U.S. Consulate General in Lahore have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the cultural sector following a meeting between Punjab Information and Culture Minister Uzma Bukhari and U.S. Consul General Stetson Sanders.
Punjab Information Secretary Tahir Raza Hamdani and Political and Economic Adviser Sadaf Saad also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, the U.S. Consul General praised the Punjab government's initiatives to establish the Punjab Film City and revive the province's theatre industry. Both sides also explored the possibility of fostering partnerships between American artists and Lahore's Alhamra Arts Council to promote cultural exchange and artistic collaboration.
Briefing the visiting diplomat, Uzma Bukhari highlighted several initiatives launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. She said the provincial government has introduced landmark welfare programmes for women, students, and farmers.
The minister also noted that approximately 170,000 homes are currently being built under the "Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar" housing programme.
In the meeting, Uzma Bukhari presented a commemorative souvenir to the U.S. Consul General as a gesture of goodwill.
