LAHORE ()Web Desk — Veteran Pakistani actor Waseem Abbas has publicly confirmed for the first time that his marriage to fellow actor Saba Hameed has legally ended, revealing that the couple had been living separately for the past 14 years before finalising their divorce.
In a recent interview, Waseem Abbas said their 29-year marriage had come to an end several years ago, although they maintained a cordial relationship throughout their separation.
The actor said that despite their decision to part ways, they continued to work together on various projects and occasionally met as friends. He added that he would have no hesitation in sharing the screen with Saba Hameed again if offered the opportunity.
Waseem Abbas said there was no bitterness between them and that mutual respect had always remained the foundation of their relationship.
Speaking about the divorce, he said he did not feel regret over the decision, explaining that the emotional bond necessary to sustain the marriage had faded over time. He also clarified that the couple did not have any children together.
The veteran actor added that he has always maintained good relations with Saba Hameed's family and emphasised that both had refrained from making negative public remarks about each other following their separation.
Reflecting on his second marriage, Waseem Abbas said he did not consider the decision entirely wrong because it had seemed appropriate at the time. However, looking back, he felt it may not have been the right choice, while stressing that he held no resentment over how the relationship ended.
Addressing speculation about marrying again, the actor said he has no plans for a third marriage. He noted that he is now a grandfather, lives with his children, and that his first wife also resides in the same household, making another marriage unlikely.
The revelation has sparked discussion on social media, with many fans praising both actors for handling their separation with dignity and maintaining mutual respect despite the end of their marriage.
Saba Hameed has not publicly commented on Waseem Abbas's remarks.
