Over 70 Lesco feeders trip after rainfall disrupts power supply in Lahore

Residents face outages despite cooler weather

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Rainfall swept across Lahore after a spell of intense humidity, bringing cooler weather to the city while triggering widespread electricity disruptions.

More than 70 feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped during the downpour, leaving several neighbourhoods without power and causing inconvenience for residents.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, rain was recorded in several parts of the provincial capital, including Abbott Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Shimla Pahari, Jail Road, Upper Mall, Mughalpura, Tajpura, Chowk Nakhuda, Pani Wala Talab, Farrukhabad, Gulshan Ravi, Samanabad, Shadipura and Saggian.

Among the highest rainfall totals, Saggian received 40.2 millimetres, followed by 39.2 millimetres at Pani Wala Talab, 37.4 millimetres at Chowk Nakhuda and 35 millimetres at Lakshmi Chowk. Farrukhabad recorded 17 millimetres of rainfall.

Elsewhere in the city, Mughalpura and Samanabad each received 4.6 millimetres, while Gulshan Ravi recorded 4.2 millimetres. Upper Mall received 3 millimetres, Tajpura 2.2 millimetres, and both Shadipura and Jail Road recorded 1 millimetre of rainfall. Light showers were also reported in several other localities.

The rainfall affected LESCO's electricity distribution network, with more than 70 feeders tripping during the weather system. The disruption also led to a number of technical faults, interrupting power supply across multiple parts of the city.

Electricity outages were reported in Qila Gujjar Singh, Samanabad, Walton Road, RA Bazaar, Harbanspura, Shalimar, Aamir Town, Baghbanpura, Shahdara and several areas of the Walled City of Lahore. The prolonged interruptions left residents facing significant inconvenience as restoration work continued.
