Chinese academic Dr Victor Gao said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir could merit the Nobel Peace Prize if their diplomatic efforts continue to advance regional peace.

BEIJING (Dunya News) – Dr Victor Gao, vice president of the China Center for China and Globalization (CCG), has said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, could become deserving candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize if they continue their efforts to promote regional peace and diplomacy.

According to media reports, Dr Gao made the remarks during an interview in which he praised Pakistan's recent diplomatic engagement, particularly its role in supporting efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East and facilitate dialogue among regional stakeholders.

He said that if these diplomatic initiatives continue and contribute to lasting peace and regional stability, they could receive wider international recognition.

Dr Gao added that sustained efforts toward conflict resolution and regional cooperation would strengthen Pakistan's standing on the global stage.

His remarks come as China has reaffirmed its close ties with Pakistan following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's recent visit to Beijing and reiterated its commitment to expanding strategic cooperation between the two countries.

The Chinese leadership has also appreciated continued cooperation with Pakistan in promoting regional peace, stability and development.
